well then thats a rare find! spotted owls are on the red list of endangered species -- The total known population of
Northern Spotted Owls is only 4000
adult pairs. British Columbia is
estimated to have fewer than 100
pairs. The Northern Spotted Owl has
been placed on British Columbia’s
Red List because of its small and
vulnerable population and continuing
habitat loss. -- but it does depend on the type... this is the northern spotted owl...however this could be a different species...

It is not a Spotted, it is most deffidently and Barred, I can see how you would think so though! But do you see the bars around his face? That is what shows a Barred from and Spotted, Spotted's have spots around their facial disk, while the Barred owl, has Bars, as is suggested in their names.

well it probably is a barred owl however it may also be a spotted owl. the only difference between the two is the belly, barred owls have stripe vertically, spotted owls have spots... here are some pics. heres a barred owl [link]
and heres a spotted owl [link]

He looks like a mix of the two, it is incredebly rare to find a pure blooded Spotted because the Barred's have started to breed with them, making this guy above, most likley a mix! ^^
